Evolving Process Lessons... adaptive strategies

This fun, stimulating, interactive two-session workshop is designed to provide enrichment material & strategies for general and Orff-Schulwerk music teachers. Using several folk sourced songs and chants as a base, material is developed into multiple lessons suitable for a range of grade levels. Focus on specific music elements evolves through these process lessons.

Activities will incorporate body percussion, dances, rhythmic notation, structured improvisation and pitched and nonpitched percussion ensembles.

Musical Heritage... multicultural music games and dance songs

This fun, stimulating, professional enrichment session celebrates the multicultural traditions of America's musical heritage, including African-American and Caribbean influences through an exploration of songs, dances and body percussion.

Activities promote listening skills, musical forms, movement and coordination, while encouraging non-competitive social interaction, teamwork and cooperation.

Materials are readily suitable for school assembly performances. Designed for general music and Orff-Schulwerk music teachers, as well as elementary classroom teachers interested in incorporating music-based materials into their curriculum studies.

RHYTHM ROUTES...literacy development with a beat

Rhythm Routes is a two-session workshop of fun, engaging activities that use simple rhythm symbols to promote literacy development in the early elementary grades. Rhythms are easily grasped kinesthetically, aurally and visually by children. Reading rhythmic notation strengthens pattern recognition and left-to-right visual tracking. Activities are designed to bridge diverse learning styles, enabling students at various reading levels to achieve success. The exercises and games use auditory reinforcement and phonemic awareness in mastering the simple rhythm note symbols and can be easily tied into grade level vocabulary and syllabication.

Designed for elementary classroom teachers to gain confidence in bringing music-based materials and methods into their classes, as well as serving as enrichment material for general music teachers, music therapists, or speech pathologists. No previous musical training is necessary.

Rhythmworks

This workshop presents rhythm activities designed to bridge diverse learning styles and engage special needs students. Ensemble work fosters self-esteem, cohesive social interaction and team building, while providing special needs students an opportunity to succeed. These activities can be easily tied into classroom vocabulary and social studies curriculum. Great for middle to upper elementary grade levels, as well as lower middle school. This workshop is suitable for general music teachers and special educators.
